Towards the end of every year, I start to research the anticipated design trends that are hopeful to come in the following year. I often look to one of my all time favorite designers, Studio McGee, to share what they think will be trending. See below a full rundown of their favorite 2025 interior design trends.

01 Romantic Silhouettes

We absolutely adore that the Insta-famous phrase, “romanticize your life,” is making its way into the hearts and minds of interior designers and fans of the genre. We’re seeing a lot of romantic silhouettes, and just a general air of softness, happening across all different types of design styles, from coastal to cottage and modern to maximal. The romanticism feels luxurious, and there’s a sweet nod to the simple things in life—like a quaint coffee nook that makes you feel like you’re in your favorite coffee shop or a cozy chair in a sun-drenched corner.

02 Saturated Colors

While there’s a time and place for muted pastels, we love seeing rich, jewel-box colors like earthy, forest greens, chocolate browns, and crimson reds like oxblood, black cherry, merlot, and burgundy. These not-so-muted colors are finding their way into interior design again, and one of our favorite ways to apply them is to color-drench a room, like how Shea and the design team treated the living spaces of our Houston Estate project below. Don’t be scared to go bold in color and application in 2025.

03 Seasonal Surprises

Another way we’re excited to incorporate color into design in 2025 is by an element of seasonal surprise, i.e. deep hues in the summertime like a dark floral pillow, and lighter tones in the winter, like sage green and cream. Winter whites have always been a thing, but we’re excited to bring it to life in the coming year. Shea and the design team used a lighter color palette to showcase our latest McGee & Co. winter collection.

04 Pattern-Drenching

We’re going to be seeing a lot of fun and bold design elements in 2025 and one we’re really excited about it pattern-drenching interiors. “It’s something I’ve always wanted a client to give us free reign on,” Shea says. While at our design firm it’s still a work in progress to fully accept this design trend, we have dabbled with it a bit in terms of unexpected pattern. In the images below, Shea and the design team used a custom-upholstered floral sofa in the entryway of The Houston Estate and a plaid-papered bunkroom in Tahoe Pines. Keep your eyes peeled for a future project that goes hard on the pattern-on-pattern trend.

05 Embellishments

Think decorative when it comes to finishing touches on furniture and styling pieces, as well as solid, part-of-the-room design choices like countertop edge details. We’re loving incorporating more artful edging, like the bullnose detail (see below) on the kitchen countertop of our Houston Estate project. In furniture, we’re loving fringe, embroidery, tassels and scallops.

06 Western Cowboy

We’re loving the laidback country-esque aesthetic of elevated western design; think Ralph Lauren meets Carhartt and a quiet cottage garden. The key elements of this design trend are a rough and tumble mindset, organic materials, a return to nature, worn woods, American workwear but elevated, durability, leathers and hides, ropes and tassels.

07 Color-Blocking

Color-blocking has been having a moment in fashion for some time, but we’re loving utilizing it in interior design. In one of our latest projects, The Summit Estate, Shea and the design team utilized a color-blocking paint technique in one of two of the home’s bars. Explore the trend deeper below and find the paint colors to mimic the look in your own home.

08 Inspired by the Sea

Rather than rattan and nautical stripes, we’re loving the heavier nods to seaside living in the use of timeless coastal materials and objects like seashells, mesh netting, fish forms, and vintage fishing tools and buoys. There’s a heavy tinge of Americana in this design style that feels classic and understated.
