March in San Diego: Spring Events and Activities

It is March already, wow! This month we spring forward and officially move into the spring season—so exciting! New beginnings mean new experiences, and San Diego’s calendar this month is full of so many fun activities and events. Check it out below!

Visit the Carlsbad Flower Fields:

Beginning March 1st the Carlsbad Flower Fields open up daily from 9am-6pm! For over sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of North San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch® in Carlsbad, California, are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May – literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, also is one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in Southern California. Check out their website here to see their activity calendar, book tickets and get visitor information.

Gaslamp’s Night Out with Magic:

Fridays and Saturdays (multiple dates and times.) Illusions Theatre & Bar, in the famous Gaslamp District, is proud to present a unique magic experience in our outdoor performance venue (unless San Diego County regulations changed to allow indoor activity)! Come to an intimate close-up show at Illusions for the magic, laughter and fun, and stay for a drink. Our professional magicians will be performing at 7, 8:30, and 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights.

See the Wildflowers of East County:

Head out to the 600,000-acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in rural East County. It is California's largest state park and a boundless living museum. See roadrunners, golden eagles, kit foxes, mule deer, bighorn sheep, desert iguanas, and more. During March through April, you can also enjoy a spectacular wonderland of color when the spring wildflowers bloom. The wildflower bloom depends on timing and amount of winter rainfall and can last two to six weeks. Call the Park's 24-hour "Wildflower Hotline" at 760-767-4684 before planning a tour of the desert flora.

Celebrate St.Patrick’s Day:

Get in the spirit of St. Patrick's Day San Diego style with outdoor dining and hearty Irish fare paired with classic ales at popular neighborhood eateries and pubs. Dance a jig to downtown's Gaslamp Quarter for delicious Shepherd's Pie and a pint of Guinness at The Field, an authentic Irish pub that was shipped piece by piece from Ireland. Just a few steps away, feast on Guinness Stew with a Harp Lager at the Stout Public House. On the lively outdoor patio of McP's Irish Pub in Coronado, enjoy live music, frosty draft beers and tasty burgers like the Ol' Dubliner or St. Patty's Patty.

Hops + Harvest Beer Dinner with Border X Brewing:

Get tickets for a special craft beer and dining experience presented by the San Diego Brewers Guild with culinary guest MIHO Catering Co and Border X Brewing! This dinner experience takes place Mar 19, 2021
