The Buyer's Guide: Housing Appreciation, La Jolla Vs. The U.S.

I am originally from the Midwest, the land of 5 bedroom, 4 bath, 4,000 square foot homes for $300,000.00. Due to this, when I arrived in the lovely state of California, I quickly realized that same amount would get me a dump of a studio if I wanted a nice view. This sticker shock was (and still can be) challenging to overcome, but I remind myself of two things: 1. 1 in 8 people in the U.S. live in California, making it highly desirable, therefore, expensive. 2. Although the initial investment when purchasing a home can be considerable, the return on your investment is stronger and happens faster than in other areas. Watch as I explain below the housing appreciation difference over time between La Jolla and the rest of the U.S.
