Real Estate Tips: What is escrow?

When I tell my friends who have yet to purchase their own home, "we're in another escrow!" They look at me with blank stares. Before becoming a Realtor, this was a question I had as well, so I thought I would help by giving a basic explanation as to what the heck escrow is!
