MK Life Tips: Pacific Beach Restaurant Guide
/I love San Diego and all of the incredible things it has to offer. Whether you live here or are traveling for business or pleasure, you'll find that each neighborhood within the city is unique and offers a different experience when it comes to things to do or places to enjoy a beverage or snack. As a self proclaimed foodie, I'm going to dig in a bit into where to eat and drink in one of my favorite neighborhoods, Pacific Beach.
Pacific Beach Fish Shop
One of four locations, this place in PB has been around since 2010 dishing up the freshest catch, any way you want it. I highly recommend their award winning TKO taco which goes great with any of their ever changing cold draft brewskies. You can also come by on Thursday's when they have $1 oysters that starts at 4pm, while supplies last, and bring your own wine with no corkage fee!
Kato Sushi
I generally order my sushi from here togo and then catch a sunset over at Windandsea. Whether you're dining in or carrying out (they also offer free delivery), I highly recommend any roll on the menu. My top two would be the spicy tuna and the dragon roll.
Tacos Mimi
These are hands down some of the best tacos my mouth has ever had! It's a small, no fuss location that offers incredible flavor at an affordable price.
Amplified Ale Works
A brewery that is dog friendly, offers a wide selection of gluten reduced beers, incredible Mediterranean-style food and an ocean view is tough to beat. I highly recommend the house-cut fries and one of their off the charts Döner Kebab Rice Bowls.
Fig Tree Cafe
A charming outdoor spot with wonderful brunch and lunch options. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious whether you're looking for french toast, a California burrito, a fresh salad or a loaded omelet. They also offer unique bellini's ranging from pomegranate, lavender, white peach and raspberry. Whatever you decide, make sure you check-out their upgrade potatoes that come with arugula, truffle oil and parmesan cheese. To die for!
PB Pho & Grill
Writing about this spot is literally making my mouth water. They have the best chicken pho that I've had in San Diego. After living in San Francisco (known for incredible pho) that is saying something. Pop in for their casual atmosphere and enjoy the cozy goodness an authentic bowl can bring.
The Patio
If you like a good old fashioned or enjoy farm to table fare, this is your spot. It's a dog friendly joint that offers fresh and delicious homemade food from brunch to dinner and a plethora of delicious craft cocktails. My favorite plates are any one of their seasonal salads and the short rib hash if you're dining during the weekend brunch.
The Baked Bear
Ummmm, how is this place even legal? They make homemade ice cream and fresh baked cookies, and then put them together into a sandwich of perfect delight. They have over a dozen different flavors and cookie types to choose from, so the possibilities are endless.
Hoboken
The best pizza and Italian fare delivered with a no fuss atmosphere. Picture dollars covering the walls, cold draft beer and it is generally loud enough that in the reasonable hours, you can bring along the kiddos :)
The Grass Skirt
If you're on the search for a great atmosphere, drinks and overall experience, than look no further than the grass skirt! From their long list of tiki style drinks and delicious Southeast Asian Cuisine, you will feel as though you have been whisked away to another place.
